School of Art
This online scheduling system is for current and prospective students who wish to make appointments with an advisor or schedule a portfolio review in the School of Art at George Mason University. When scheduling, please keep in mind University deadlines, assignment deadlines, and time of year - particularly during the beginning and the end of the semester, as these tend to be busier times. We cannot schedule times we do not have available. If a date is not available it means that all available appointments have already been scheduled.

Academic Advising and Advising Policy:
Academic Advising in the School of Art at George Mason University is an integral part of the education process. Academic advising helps plan educational goals and work to achieve them throughout a liberal arts education. The elements of that education include classes, co-curricular activities, work and personal experiences. With interests and goals in mind, academic advisors will help formulate academic plans. Advisors are dedicated to creating an atmosphere in which students can discover their potential, set and reach individual goals, explore and plan appropriate academic study, and prepare for success after graduation. Students are encouraged to meet with an advisor at least once a semester.
Newly Admitted Students:
Students newly admitted to George Mason University must seek advising through new student orientation, scheduled through the Office of Admissions. See the Office of Admissions website for information on your next steps as newly admitted students.
**NOTE that you DO NOT need an appointment for the following:
- Declaring a minor in AVT, Graphic Design, and Web Design.
- Reviewing Transfer Credit Reevaluation requests (please be sure to include a copy of the syllabus of the course and your current GMU transcript). Allow 1-2 weeks for review.
Incoming freshmen students are admitted into School of Art degree programs separately from their admission to George Mason University and only by portfolio review. Current GMU students must complete a portfolio review to change their major. Portfolio reviews are face-to-face reviews and may be scheduled online.
